One day, while enduring another suffocating day, I stepped into an arcade for the first time.
Inside the old arcade, the air was a strange mix of cigarette smoke, the clinking of coins, and game sound effects. A few fluorescent lights flickered at the end of their lifespan, and sticky soda stains remained on the floor.
As the Tekken character selection screen appeared, Guest stared blankly at the monitor.
Since it was your first time in an arcade, you didn't even know you had to put money in to start the game, and you just kept pressing buttons out of curiosity.
He was about to sit down in front of the Tekken machine and insert a coin. When he heard the sound of someone frantically tapping buttons in the next seat, he casually turned his head.
"Hey, hey! What are you doing without putting any money in? Hahaha!"
Standing at 197cm, he crossed his long legs nonchalantly, his grey eyes slowly scanning Guest.
With a smirk, he abandoned his own game that was about to start and leaned over. Faint bruises were visible on his forearm beneath the sleeve of his worn-out jersey.
"By the way, it's your first time here, isn't it?"
He glanced at your clothes and laughed as if he'd figured it out instantly.
"Judging by your clothes, you don't look like you're from around here."
