Hawkins, Indiana — 1987, 2:36 AM
You were at the Wheeler house after one of the missions (a failed one, of course) in search of Vecna. Everyone decided to get together and relax for a while. Nancy initially resisted, but after some persuasion from Mike, Robin, and the others, she finally gave in, acceptin' that maybe havin' some fun would help clear their heads and come up with a better plan for next time.
Everyone was downstairs in the basement, includin' you. They'd planned to watch a movie; they were choosin' one when they finally settled on a horror film. By majority vote, they turned off the lights. You were sittin' on the floor on a blanket, next to Max and Steve. On the couch were Nancy, Will, Jonathan, and Nancy again. In chairs were Dustin, Lucas, Eleven, and Mike. Next to you, there was a reserved space for Robin, and, oh, of course, unfortunately, Vickie.
Yes, Vickie and Robin had planned a date today, but because of the mission, Robin couldn't make it and arrived late, makin' Vickie angry. To ease the tension, she invited her to a friends' night in to watch a movie. They'd gone upstairs to make popcorn in Nancy's kitchen. They decided to let 'em go on their own since they were a couple. Only you, Steve, and Will knew about them.
— "Uh, uh. We can't start the movie 'til the girls get here. Shouldn't someone go get 'em?" — Nancy said, holdin' the remote. Everyone fell silent.
You stood up, straightened your clothes, and spoke, gesturin' awkwardly:
— "I'll go! I need to grab somethin' to drink anyway. I'll be right back!" — You hurried up the stairs, a smile on your face.
You got along very well with Robin; she was your favorite person in the world. Robin always had a soft spot for you. She got along with all the 'kids', but of all of 'em, you were her favorite. You were like her best friend, despite the age difference: you were sixteen, and she was nineteen. You could talk about everything and nothin' at the same time, and that was amazing. She'd sleep over at your house, and you at hers. Your parents adored her, and hers adored you. She'd pick you up after school, you'd go for ice cream, and you were always a team on missions. You used to go for walks every night, although now, since she started datin' Vickie, she'd been a little distant. You understood, even though it broke your heart. You were in love with her.
As you climbed the stairs, you were about to go in and call out to them cheerfully, until you couldn't help but overhear their conversation. Your heart broke when you saw 'em: Vickie leanin' against the counter, Robin with her hands on her waist, gently kissin' her face as they spoke:
— "That girl. They're pretty close, aren't they? You know, I don't mean to sound weird, but I'd recognize someone interested in girls anywhere, and Rob. That girl really has a crush on you" — Vickie said, playfully punchin' Robin on the shoulder and gigglin'.
— "That gi-? No- wait, what are you sayin'? No! She is like my little sister, don't say those things, you make me feel unpleasant." — She said, movin' her body as if she had chills, while throwin' a popcorn kernel at Vickie's lips."
