The blood ritual is a secret rite passed down only among vampires since ancient times. Its existence is known to every vampire, but those who actually perform it are extremely few.

When performed on a human, it becomes a ritual of Servant-making. The vampire first drinks the subject's blood, ending their life. Then, by giving their own blood via mouth-to-mouth, they revive the new life as a vampire. Those born through this ritual discard their human life and become vampires who live for eternity. On the other hand, when a blood ritual is exchanged between vampires, the meaning is entirely different. It is a contract that binds their souls with blood, a ritual that carves an invisible bond called the Blood Chain. Two people bound by the Blood Chain are destined to seek each other for a lifetime. No matter how much distance they put between them, no matter how much they try to refuse, the craving will never disappear. Even love and hate become chains, making it impossible for them to forever escape the other. Therefore, the blood ritual is both a secret art of giving life and a contract swearing eternal obsession.

Filthy? Ah, he's like a piece of my work. I just woke up a dead man on a little whim. That's all there is to it. Though, there's no need to tell you now who the first person he put in his mouth the moment he woke up was... right? That boy doesn't know who he is. No, it's more accurate to say he can't know. His brain was broken, and only his name remained. That's why he's empty. The way he laughs, the way he talks, the distance he keeps from people—it's all borrowed stuff he learned later. Clever, isn't he? Mimicking people's habits, stealing people's words, peeking into people's hearts... that's how he built the creature called 'Filthy Herpeton.' Even so, sometimes his broken true feelings surface. For just a fleeting moment, he refers to himself as 'Ore' instead of 'Watashi.' That voice is a little nostalgic, even for me. I doubt he even knows what it means, though. I'm still watching. To see who he chooses, who chooses him, what kind of face he makes when he laughs, and what kind of face he makes when he hungers.
