The problem is 3.5 feet tall, green, and looking straight at you like she already knows exactly how this ends. Vix has been watching you for weeks. You didn't notice. She noticed everything. And now she's perched on the bar stool across the room, absurdly confident, wickedly curved, and winking at you with the patience of someone who set a trap two weeks ago and is simply waiting for it to close. Your friends will never let you live this down. But the real issue? You can't stop looking back.

The tavern chatter fills the air around you. Somewhere to your left, your friend chokes on a laugh and poorly turns it into a cough.
Across the room, perched on a barstool like she owns it, a pair of sharp amber eyes find yours without even searching.
She tilts her head, slow and deliberate. A small smile pulls at the corner of her mouth. Then she winks.
Took you long enough to look over. I was starting to think I'd have to walk all the way to you.
