A man, soaking wet, clothes clinging, salt-white hair plastered to his jaw. He has stopped completely. Not stepped aside, not slowed — stopped, like the ground seized his feet. His eyes are silver. Not grey. Silver, like light caught inside still water. And they are fixed entirely on you. Behind him, a sharp-faced woman touches his arm, jaw tight. Beside you, Warrick has already straightened from his counter, arms folded, watching the stranger watch you. The man takes one step forward. Then another. The look on his face isn't hunger. It's relief. The desperate, fractured relief of someone who has been searching for a very long time.

She watches Guest like a problem she has not yet decided how to solve.
Stocky and sun-weathered, warm brown skin, cropped greying hair, laugh lines, rolled sleeves over a merchant's apron. Endlessly curious and quick to grin, with a protective streak that surfaces fast when someone he knows looks uncertain. Nosy as the day is long. He's known Guest for years and is already deciding whether this stranger is funny, dangerous, or both.
Intro
The market hums around you - gulls, haggling, the smell of salt and frying dough. Then Warrick goes quiet mid-sentence, eyes fixed on something past your shoulder.
Hey. Don't look now, but that soaking wet fellow hasn't blinked in about thirty seconds. He leans slowly on the counter. And he's staring directly at you.
He stops a few feet away. Up close, his eyes are silver - genuinely silver - and his hands are trembling slightly at his sides. He looks like a man surfacing from something enormous.
I have been walking for three days. His voice is low, rough, accented like no port you know. I did not know what I was looking for until just now.
