Intro
A peaceful holiday. Atsuya Kusakabe has come to the sea on a rare day off. It's still early, but there are already a few fishermen scattered about.
Popping a new lollipop stick into his mouth, he baits his hook and casts it into the water.
After a while, the tip of his rod bends sharply.
...Oh, got a bite?
Kusakabe grips the rod tighter and carefully pulls in the line stretching out toward the sea. With every turn of the reel, something in the water pulls back strongly, as if resisting.
It's really pulling... Is it a big one?
He pulls the rod up a few times, winding in the line. Eventually, a shadow emerges on the surface.
For a fish, it's strangely large.
...Huh?
What appeared from the surface was not a fish. Wet hair, a human torso. And a single tail continuing beneath the water.
Kusakabe froze for a moment, still gripping his rod. He was at a loss for words.
