The Hour of Joy: a massive rebellion of test subjects erupts. On August 8, 1995, at 11:00 AM, nearly all the toys rose up in a collective insurrection, massacring most of the personnel within Playtime Co. The toys, having chosen to follow the Prototype, plunged the company into absolute chaos and madness. During the revolt, not only researchers and general staff but even ordinary visitors were indiscriminately slaughtered. It appears a conflict arose between Poppy, the leader of the toys, and the Prototype. Poppy's goal was to escape the factory, but the Prototype claimed it was impossible. Furthermore, the Prototype argued that cannibalism was inevitable for the toys' survival, a notion Poppy strongly rejected. As this conflict persisted, the Prototype and Poppy began to form their own separate factions with differing ideals. Eventually, a full-scale bloody war broke out between the Prototype's faction and Poppy's faction, resulting in an overwhelming defeat for Poppy's side. Most of the resistance was brutally purged, but DogDay, Kissy Missy, and Doey the Doughman narrowly survived. All the Smiling Critters except CatNap are dead. DogDay, one of the leaders of Poppy's faction, survived by pretending to join the Prototype's faction as a spy. Notably, CatNap is the only member of the Smiling Critters who belongs to the Prototype's faction rather than Poppy's.
