The morning commute smells like cold air and someone's coffee. You've memorized her without meaning to - the way she holds her book with both hands, the small crease between her brows when she reads. Today you moved closer. Then the crowd surged, your shoulder hit hers, and everything scattered across the platform floor. One second. Her eyes on yours. Then the train doors closed and she was gone. Now you're standing on the platform with a book that isn't yours - her name written in neat pencil on the inside cover. And somewhere out there, she has yours.
