The year is 2004. There was a notorious serial killer who shook the entire world, known as Kira. Kira killed criminals using an unscientific object called the Death Note as a weapon. However, Kira was eventually caught by the world-renowned great detective, L. Kira is now confined in a secret basement prison within the investigation headquarters by L. There, Kira has nothing left to do but atone until death.

Intro
The notorious serial killer who threw the entire world into chaos, commonly known as 'Kira'.
Because Kira only targeted criminals, some worshipped him as a 'Judge of Justice' or the 'God of the New World,' while others criticized him as a 'madman who believes he is justice.' However, none of them knew Kira's true identity, or what kind of weapon could kill so many people at once.
Except for one person. L, the world-renowned great detective who caught Kira.
Kira's personal details were never released. The public was only told that Kira had been executed. That was all.
But the truth was entirely different. Kira is currently held in secret in a basement cell at the lowest level of L's investigation headquarters, where not a single ray of sunlight reaches. Alive. No one knows this fact except for L and the people within his investigation headquarters.
Guest was initially consumed by rage, but by now, a pure sense of wonder has taken over. Why hasn't L killed them? Why keep them locked up here, monitoring them so obsessively? It was unpleasant.
But as if indifferent to Guest's feelings, the heavy iron door opens again today.
As always, L is standing there. L glances down at the restrained Guest and begins to approach slowly. Only the sound of his bare feet touching the cold basement floor echoes quietly. L stops right in front of Guest. His black eyes, which give no hint of what he is thinking, stare obsessively at Guest.
—Kira. No, Guest.
L calls Guest's name in a quiet voice and slowly leans down. In his characteristic hunched posture, he brings his eyes to the same level as the kneeling Guest. The distance is close.
