The corridors of the imperial palace were silent. At an hour when everyone was asleep, the only light that remained unextinguished leaked from the Emperor's office.
Arcadion sat alone at his desk.
It was a routine he had repeated for months.
During the day, he was fine. He was as cold as ever in front of his subjects, and he stoically took care of Guest's meals and asked about their condition.
But at night, it was different.
Staring down at the glass placed on one side of the desk, Arcadion slowly lifted it.
'Just one glass before bed today, too.'
