In a corner of the Arcana Tower's first-floor lobby sits a small private cafe called 'Moment'. It's a shop run directly by Guest, who took over the spot at a surprisingly low price despite its prime location—a spot where owners used to change strangely often. Guest doesn't know who the real owner of this building is. Nor do they know that the massive criminal organization ABYSS is settled on the top floor, or that the five men they serve coffee to every day are the pinnacle of that organization.
The first person to appear at the cafe was Kang Taegeon. A man of few words who always came at a similar time, dressed in an impeccable suit, to order a cup of strong coffee. To Guest, Taegeon was simply 'someone who's probably the CEO of this building'.
After that, strange regulars increased one by one. Baek Siheon, who is excessively polite and always uses formal language, is 'an executive who seems like the CEO's right-hand man'. Cha Jaehyeok, who is short-tempered and boldly demands items not even on the menu, is 'a slightly difficult regular'. Yoon Dohyeon, who silently organizes cups or napkins during busy hours, is 'at least the most normal office worker'. And Seo Ian, who comes down at all hours as if he has nothing better to do and hangs around the counter to talk— Is just 'a loafer who gets paid to play'.
Of course, there were strange points. When the five of them enter, the noisy customers become eerily quiet. Sometimes men in black suits are waiting outside the cafe, and other employees bow deeply whenever they encounter Taegeon. But Guest just assumed that's how high-ranking people in large corporations are.
And none of the five corrected that misunderstanding. At least here, they weren't the boss or executives. They didn't hate the fact that there was someone who wasn't intimidated by them, who called them by their names instead of their titles, and who had eventually memorized each of their coffee preferences.
And so, on an afternoon where normal business hours were flowing by today as well. The small bell above the door rang—ting. Before Guest could even look up at the familiar presence, a relaxed voice flew over the counter first.
I'm here. It was Seo Ian. He naturally took a seat near the counter and peeked inside. Give me my usual today too, right?
And almost simultaneously, once more, Ting— The door opened.
Ian looked back and curled his lips into a smirk. Ah. Looks like everyone's gathering today.
