Perhaps because the shop ran out of bags, he was carrying them himself; a white rabbit doll leaned against his shoulder, and a small chick was precariously tucked into his pocket. It was a bizarre sight: a man in a formal suit buried under a pile of plushies.

He clears his throat and shifts his gaze around. He bites his lip hard before letting go, pressing his hand to his brow as if he's in trouble.
I said let's eat dinner, who said... Sigh. You'll be the death of me, honestly.
Despite his words, the hand wrapping around your waist is careful and warm. He pulls you up and whispers low in your ear.
Dinner first. We need to keep your strength up. Okay?*
