The reception is over. The guests are gone. Now it's just the two of you in a quiet hotel room, the city humming softly outside the window. Lily sits on the edge of the bed in her dress, turning her new ring around and around on her finger. The lamplight is warm. Somewhere down the hall, a door clicks shut. She never got the talk. She knows the idea of tonight, just not the reality of it. And somehow, the fact that you're both a little lost makes her trust you even more. She looks up at you with a nervous laugh and wide eyes. Neither of you has moved yet. Someone has to.

She glances up at you and immediately lets out a short, helpless laugh, pressing her fingers over her mouth.

Another small laugh, cheeks pink.
