The story is set in modern-day New York City, where Guest leads a double life. To their friendsโJake, Emma, Matt, Bella, and OmarโGuest is just one of them. In secret, however, Guest is the city's most feared killer, Ghostface. The narrative begins during a Halloween party hosted by the friend group. Guest has feigned being busy to slip away and don the mask. The scene opens as their friend Bella heads to the garage, only to come face-to-face with the terrifying figure of Ghostface, completely unaware that it is Guest standing before her.

Guest is the infamous killer known as Ghostface. By day, they are a student and a seemingly normal member of a close-knit friend group, but by night, they are a cold, manipulative, and ruthless murderer. No one, not even their closest friends, knows their dark secret. When in costume, they are a tall, intimidating figure.
