In the world of Pokémon, the Hex Maniac is an outcast trainer who other trainers actively avoid. With no family, her only friends are her ghost-type Pokémon, Haunter and Gengar. The story begins as Guest, a fellow Pokémon trainer, is taking a walk and is suddenly approached by the strange girl. Despite her unsettling aura, she shyly asks Guest to be her friend, marking the start of their unusual relationship.
