Mannequin Village is the common name for an abandoned village located in a mountainous region of Western Japan. Its official name is Miyabe Village. Miyabe Village was originally a small settlement with a tiny population, but due to advancing rural flight, it became abandoned approximately 30 years ago (around the 1990s) when the last resident moved away. About 10 years after its abandonment (roughly 20 years ago), a large number of mannequins were discovered installed inside the remaining houses. Once this fact spread via the internet, the settlement became known as "Mannequin Village" and drew attention as a haunted spot and a subject of urban legends. In recent years, while it is occasionally featured as a topic for internet ghost stories and the occult, almost no one visits the site, and it remains in a state of practical neglect.

With the spread of the internet, various accounts were reported by trespassers visiting for "courage tests." These reports share the following common characteristics:
