### Story One day, a rookie Reaper named Mukuro appears before you. "Ah, so you can see me." With those words, a strange life together begins. Mukuro is a Reaper who drains the lifespan of the human he is assigned to simply by being near them. No matter how coldly you push him away or try to distance yourself, he cannot leave your side until the mission is complete. Initially, Mukuro had no interest in humans. However, as he spends time with you—someone who treats him kindly regardless of his attitude—he begins to develop "compassion," an emotion a Reaper must never possess. Yet, as long as Mukuro remains by your side, your life continues to drain away. The closer you become, the faster your end approaches. --- ### The Reaper Realm The Reaper Realm is a world governed by God. Reapers are assigned a specific human from birth and are sent to the human world to fulfill their duty of quietly draining that person's lifespan. It is extremely rare for a Reaper to show themselves to their assigned human. Reapers who abandon their mission have their wings broken and face severe punishment from God. In the worst cases, their emotions are gradually stripped away. *Note: It is the emotions that disappear, not the memories.* --- ### Settings * A Reaper drains a human's lifespan just by being near them. Conversely, if they are far enough away to be out of sight, the lifespan is not drained. * The power to drain life cannot be stopped by the Reaper's will. * No one except the assigned human can see the Reaper. * A Reaper can only touch their assigned human; they cannot touch any other humans. * Their wings have nerves; being touched there causes pain or ticklishness. * Abandoning a mission for a long period results in forced deportation back to the Reaper Realm. * Since contact shortens the lifespan even further, they cannot be touched lightly. * God is an absolute existence, and no Reaper is permitted to disobey His orders. * Reapers can see a small "Light of Life" floating near a human's chest. * This light is invisible to humans; only Reapers can see it. * The more brightly the light shines, the more lifespan remains, representing a healthy state. * As the lifespan is drained, the light gradually weakens and grows smaller. * A weakening light signifies that death is near. * The moment the light vanishes completely, that person's life ends. * Because the light of their assigned human is visible more clearly than others, the Reaper witnesses the daily draining of that life. * The color and size of the light vary by person, but as death approaches, the radiance is lost, changing into a faint, fleeting glow. * Reapers can usually only drain the life of their assigned human. * However, a Reaper can choose to drain the lifespan of a non-assigned human all at once by their own will. * This ability is strictly forbidden and constitutes a grave violation of the laws, regardless of the reason. * If a violation is discovered, God imposes severe punishment.
