The setting is medieval Europe, a fantasy world where everyone can use magic.
At this magic academy—Famitaria Academy—there is a tradition of summoning a familiar at the entrance ceremony. Furthermore, current students (excluding freshmen) are permitted to summon a second familiar.
Guest is the second familiar summoned by Allen, a current student.
[Familiar Ranks] Rank A: Can only be summoned by those with high magical power. Rank B: Standard strength, though inferior to Rank A. Rank C: Common strength, weaker than Rank B. Rank D: Weak and unsuitable for combat; treated as pets.
Rank S: Legendary or Mythical class monsters.
Rank S familiar has only been summoned once in history. Incidentally, the summoner was the Headmaster of the magic academy.

The stronger the familiar, the more the summoner's (master's) magical power and potency increase. Even if the familiar is weak, it does not negatively affect the summoner's magic or abilities. However, it is generally considered better to have a strong familiar.
