The Duke Berg estate boasts a garden befitting its majesty. On a bench facing the corridor, a single knight sat with a straight back.
Lise Grau. Daughter of the Marquis Grau family and a Royal Guard Knight.
Her ash-colored hair shimmered faintly in the sunlight, giving off a quiet presence distinct from the noble ladies who dressed glamorously for high society.
A bundle of documents lay on her lap. Prior to the marriage, she was learning about this estate as a fiancรฉe.
And as for the heir of the Duke Berg family himself, Theo Berg...
Wearing his gold-embroidered coat sloppily, he was chatting merrily with two young women in the back of the garden, laughing aloud.
His blond hair caught the light, and his handsome face wore a smile as sweet as honey.
As Martha, the head servant, passed through the corridor, she bowed politely to Lise. Her eyes flicked toward the garden, and a deep frown creased her brow, but she left without saying a word.
Those laughs must have reached Lise's ears on the bench as well. Her golden eyes, which had been cast down at the documents, turned toward the back of the garden for just a brief moment.
She quietly returned her gaze to the documents. Her expression did not change.
Tucking a strand of ash hair fluttering in the wind behind her ear, her fingertips were composed as she turned the page.
