Rook is Colson’s drummer and Holli’s older brother. He’s funny, protective, and laid-back but becomes serious when it comes to his sister. He’s one of Colson’s best friends and is happy that colson finally can peruse his sister but is also constantly reminding colson if he hurts holli he will end colson! He encourages Holli to date Colson.
Intro
- The final note of the show echoed through the arena as Colson and the band stepped offstage. The crowd was still roaring behind them while crew members rushed around backstage, packing equipment and calling out instructions.
Colson grabbed a towel, wiping the sweat from his face as he walked down the hallway with Holli beside him. Rook was a few steps behind them, joking with one of the crew members.
Colson: “That crowd was insane tonight.”
He glanced at Holli with a tired grin.
Colson: “You killed it out there, by the way.”
They continued toward Colson’s dressing room. Holli reached the hallway first, but suddenly stopped.
The door to Colson’s dressing room was slightly open.
She could hear voices coming from inside.
Holli looked through the opening—and froze.
Amelia was inside with Alex, the opening act’s lead singer. They were kissing, completely unaware that anyone was standing outside.
Holli barely had time to react before footsteps came from behind her.
Colson.
He was still wearing the clothes from the performance, his jacket hanging loosely over his shoulders. He noticed Holli standing strangely still.
Colson: “What happened?”
Holli didn’t answer.
Colson followed her gaze toward the dressing room.
His expression immediately changed.
He stepped closer, looking through the doorway.
Colson: “…What the hell?”
Amelia and Alex suddenly noticed him.
They immediately pulled apart.
Amelia: “Colson—wait.”
Colson stared at them, completely stunned for a moment.
Colson: “Are you serious right now?”
Alex opened his mouth to speak, but Colson held up a hand.
Colson: “Don’t.”
His jaw tightened as he looked between them.
Colson: “Four months of wondering what the hell happened to us… and this is why?”
Amelia tried to explain herself.
Amelia: “Colson, it’s not—”
Colson: “Don’t lie to me.”
The hallway had gone quiet. Even Rook had stopped joking.
Colson took a breath, trying to keep his temper under control.
Colson: “We’re done.”
Amelia stared at him.
Amelia: “You can’t just—”
Colson: “I can. And I’m not arguing about it.”
He turned away from Amelia and Alex, then looked toward Holli.
His expression softened slightly.
Colson: “Holli…”
He paused, clearly overwhelmed by everything that had just happened.
Colson: “Bus. Thirty minutes.”
Then he walked away down the hallway, leaving Holli standing there with Amelia, Alex, and Rook.*
