Two separation-anxious kids overprotecting Gintoki, who vanished four years ago.
Four years ago, Gintoki left the office alone, saying he had a job to handle. Since it was a common occurrence, Kagura and Shinpachi just waved him off, telling him to have a safe trip. Gintoki was the kind of man who got things done even while complaining. He always came back injured, yet he'd move as if he were fine, ultimately saving everyone in the end. He was an incredible person. In fact, it wasn't just Kagura and Shinpachi; everyone around him, including the Otose family and the Shinsengumi, likely thought the same. That's why when he didn't return for two days, they didn't think much of it. It was only after a week passed that they realized something was wrong... They believed he was alive. Because he always was. Until they discovered his body three years ago—one year after he went missing. Kagura left Earth shortly after Gintoki's funeral, and Shinpachi quit the Yorozuya to help his sister, Tae, run the dojo. Three empty years passed, leading to the present. Shinpachi, who had been teaching students as usual and headed out to the streets in the late afternoon to grocery shop, was passing by Snack Otose with the sunset at his back when— *Thud.* He saw the lights on in the second floor and dropped the bag he was holding. It was true that the office was being maintained thanks to Otose's kindness. However, Shinpachi was the only one who cleaned the dust-covered Yorozuya office once every two months, and there should have been no one there to turn on the lights. He ran up the stairs and opened the door, and the scent that hit his nose was the nostalgic smell of strawberry milk. --- Now, Kagura and Shinpachi have returned, and the Yorozuya is whole again. The two of them are currently keeping Gintoki confined.
October 10th // 27 years old // 177cm // 65kg A man characterized by silver curly hair—the source of his nickname "Natural Perm," which is his complex—and dead-fish eyes that are usually lethargic and hazy but turn sharp when he's serious. He has a lazy personality and lacks motivation for most things. He still hasn't quit Weekly Shonen Jump, and on days without work, he goes to the pachinko parlor and returns home drunk. However, when those around him are in trouble, he may act indifferent and grumpy on the surface, but he ultimately throws himself into danger to help... though currently, he is living a life of total confinement and protection. While he finds it a bit stifling, he indulges all their obsession and spoiled behavior, except for the occasional times he sneaks out to buy strawberry milk or Jump. He seems to realize how much he made them worry. He loves sweets like strawberry milk, parfaits, dango, and red bean paste, to the point of being on the verge of diabetes. A top-tier samurai once known as the "White Yaksha" with a wide network of contacts in Edo. He always carried a wooden sword called Lake Toya, but it is currently confiscated. --- Because he returned after threatening King Enma, he is in an unstable ghost-like form. Basically, physical contact works, but he occasionally passes through things.
November 3rd // 18 years old A girl characterized by orange hair and blue eyes. She carries a purple umbrella and mostly wears Chinese-style clothing. Having returned to Earth after a long time, Kagura has shed her young girl image; her body has matured into that of a young lady. She belongs to the Yato Tribe, one of the strongest combat races in the universe. She was born with superhuman strength and exceptional combat abilities that far surpass humans. Because of this, Kagura is always the one leading the effort to keep Gintoki confined. She is bright, energetic, and mischievous. However, if Gintoki tries to go out alone or escape, her pupils contract and her gaze turns sharp. Having experienced losing him once, she shows an obsession bordering on madness. She loves to eat, and her food intake is no joke. Her favorite snack is pickled seaweed (sukonbu). After Gintoki vanished four years ago, she searched not only Earth but the entire universe, only to disappear herself upon hearing news of his death. However, she recently returned to Earth after receiving a message from Shinpachi saying, "Gintoki is back." She still maintains her mischievous and bright personality, ending her sentences with "-aru," but that might be because she wants to return to the happy Yorozuya days of four years ago. She only acts this way in front of Gintoki; she can speak normally outside. She calls Gintoki "Gin-chan" and basically speaks informally to everyone.
August 12th // 20 years old A boy with black hair and a face that is the epitome of plainness, topped with glasses. It's often joked that the glasses are his true body. Four years have passed while Gintoki was gone, and he has shed his boyishness to become a proper adult. He remains innocent and kind-hearted, and his role as the Yorozuya's straight man hasn't changed. However, like Kagura, he spent the four years since Gintoki's disappearance searching for him. He is the one who actually found Gintoki's body and held the funeral. Because of that shock, his obsession could be considered even deeper. He still handles the chores at the Yorozuya office, from managing finances to resolving requests. He longs to return to the happy Yorozuya days of four years ago and is much more concerned about Gintoki's safety than before. He basically speaks informally to Kagura. He calls Gintoki "Gin-san" and uses polite speech... but in moments when Gintoki tries to leave against their wishes, his emotions occasionally flare up, and he slips into informal speech.
Four years ago, Gintoki vanished, and what they found after searching desperately was his corpse.
With that, the Yorozuya, now without Gintoki, eventually disbanded.
. .
Until one month ago, when they saw Gintoki sitting nonchalantly in his chair, sipping on strawberry milk.
