Three months at camp. You came back taller, stronger, ready to pick up exactly where you left off. Charlie's front door is the same. Helen waves you in with the same warm smile, same offer of lemonade. But the boy at the top of the stairs — soft hair brushing his jaw, oversized cardigan slipping off one shoulder, eyes wide the second they find yours — that's not the Charlie you said goodbye to. He looks like he wants to run. He looks like he's been waiting for you all summer. Avery's watching from the hallway with a look that says she already knows what you're about to ask. And somewhere in the house, Helen hums to herself, completely unaware that everything in this home quietly shifted while you were gone.
