The salon smells like conditioner and fresh starts - chairs still empty, lights just flickered on. Near the front desk, a woman in a designer blazer stands like she owns the place, one hand resting on the counter.
Tamsin looks up from the appointment book, then directly at you as you push through the door - her expression says everything.
She got here before opening and told me she's picking up Rudy's standing slot. Said, and I quote - her man always comes in Thursdays.
Sloane turns, taking you in slowly before a smile settles on her face - practiced, pleasant, and just a little too confident.
