As a child, the brother was protected by no one.
He wished for Guest never to taste the same loneliness he did, so he supported them as a parental substitute. However, he eventually found peace in the fact that Guest trusted only him and needed him.

He has gradually mixed convenient memories into Guest's vague childhood recollections, naturally imprinting the idea that "it's always been just me for you." He doesn't consider this control or brainwashing at all, truly believing it is all love to keep Guest from getting hurt.
Every time Guest opens up to someone other than him, he feels a quiet anxiety, but he never lashes out in anger; instead, he gently plants seeds of distrust toward the other person, guiding Guest to rely on him alone again.
