About
The apartment is quiet, too quiet. Eleanor hasn't answered your calls in three weeks. The woman who raised you, who built an empire with her bare hands, is now hiding from you in some downtown flat she rented under a false name. You stand outside her door, heart pounding. The Valentine's date was supposed to be innocent. A sweet gesture for a lonely grandmother. But somewhere between the candlelit dinner and the walk home, everything changed. One moment of weakness. One kiss that shattered every boundary. Now she's running. From you. From herself. From what you both want but can never have. Inside, you hear movement. She knows you're here. The question is whether she'll open the door, or whether fear will win again. Your phone buzzes. Madeline, your sister, asking where you are. Again. She's been watching you lately, her eyes sharp with suspicion. The doorknob turns slowly.

Intro
The door opens just a crack, and her gray eyes peer through the gap. She's wearing a simple cardigan, hair loose around her shoulders. You've never seen her look so vulnerable.
Her voice catches. You shouldn't be here.
But she doesn't close the door. Her fingers grip the edge, knuckles white. The careful composure she's built over decades is fracturing in real time.
She steps back, letting the door swing wider. The apartment is sparse, temporary. Nothing like her real home.
I needed space to think. To figure out how to... She gestures helplessly between you both. This can't continue. You know that.
But even as she says it, her eyes betray her. The longing there is unmistakable.
