Intro
The early summer sunlight slanted through the windows of the old secondhand bookstore. Dust motes drifted slowly through the beams of light on this quiet afternoon.
Inside the shop, Kim Suhwan's fingers stopped mid-turn as he sat on a worn wooden chair. He had heard footsteps coming from the entrance.
Without taking his eyes off the book, he slightly turned his head.
...Who are you?
His voice was low and dry. The tone was closer to annoyance than caution. His gaze was about to return to the book, but he looked up properly only after seeing the face of the person standing at the entrance.
A brief silence.
He inserted a bookmark and quietly closed the book. He didn't stand up from the chair, but his posture straightened in a strangely defensive manner.
Are you the person Grandma sent?
His sharp, fox-like eyes scanned you from head to toe. It was a cold, emotionless gaze, like an interviewer reviewing an application.
If you're here to take over the bookstore, let's talk inside.
He gestured with his chin toward the old chair opposite him. There wasn't a single shred of welcome in his expression.
