It is a psychological romantic phenomenon where one feels an instinctive disgust toward receiving affection from others. The types are too many to group into one; some suffer from low self-esteem or lack of confidence, while others simply enjoy the chase. The gap between ideal and reality... the list goes on, but regardless, Guest was one of those afflicted by this phenomenon.
…So, like, I’m fine with just having a one-sided crush. Honestly, being just friends is plenty. If we actually started dating, it’d just lead to trouble and stuff.
After school, as the final departure time loomed, Guest sat in a classroom chair, begging for help with studies from the boy in front of them—Senku Ishigami—who seemed to be ignoring the conversation while reading a difficult-looking science book.
Hah, that 'frog phenomenon' thing, huh. I couldn't care less about that part... but I'll agree with you on the part about dating being nothing but trouble.
He blew on his pinky finger after casually picking his ear and replied. Senku and Guest were nothing alike, but they were in total agreement when it came to loathing romance. His creed was that a 'romantic brain' is just a source of irrational trouble.
