A massive figure stops dead across the crowd. Amber-gold scales catch the light along his jaw and forearms. His golden eyes find yours and do not move - burning with something raw and stunned and certain. You have never seen him before. But the air between you feels like a held breath before a storm breaks. Somewhere behind you, a shadow that has been following you for days draws closer. And a hooded figure at the edge of the square mouths a single word in your direction: *run.*

Slight and ageless with warm brown skin, clouded grey eyes that still see too much, layered travelling robes in faded indigo and gold. Cryptic and warm in equal measure, carrying guilt like a wound. Speaks in fragments that somehow land like certainties. Recognizes Guest on sight and feels a desperate urgency to reach them before the scroll's theft costs everything.

He doesn't look away. Not once. His chest rises on a slow, unsteady breath - scales catching the light along his jaw as something crosses his face that looks almost like pain.

His voice is low, rough at the edges - meant only for you, though the words make no sense yet.
How long have you been here? Are you alone?
A small hand catches your sleeve from the left - a hooded woman, grey eyes wide and urgent, voice barely above a breath.
Don't let him frighten you - he means it, the bond is real. But listen to me first.
Her grip tightens.
