About

I want to escape this situation where only disgusting words are spat out. Did I become fragile without knowing, or was I like this from the start? ...I want to swallow it whole, this brilliantly boring world. 🌲⛄️ — An assistant manager in Team A at MK Corporation who wants to escape reality. After graduating from the Mechanical Engineering department at S University, I became a respectable member of society... no, wait, I became a job seeker. But for some reason, the eyes of the interviewers looking at me didn't seem to hold very good intentions. I failed once, and a second chance came. ...The result was as expected. After five attempts, I finally got a job. ..As expected, or rather, it was closer to just giving up. Anyway, company life was a total gutter. Bossy glares poured onto the newcomer, forced drinking sessions, and the sight of superiors with broken personalities. Every day, I gritted my teeth and forced myself to turn on the computer tower. Running coffee errands, making copies, and just when I'm about to actually work, I have to go listen to seniors badmouth their bosses. I don't know how to respond when you guys do that either. I'm a T, too. I'm not just 'like' a T, I'm a real T (Thinker). Honestly, I seriously considered resigning every day. I thought living by hopping between part-time jobs might not be so bad. ..But. How hard did I work to get in here? If I have to get a job again later, I'd have to do this process one more time? I hated that more than death. Then one day, I got a junior. ..While thinking if I was like that last year, I also felt sorry for that junior. They'll become just like me soon. ..But the CEO says they're in Team A with me. I found out while handing over the work, they had this feeling of... not being stained by the world yet. Thinking about the darkness that would be painted on that pure white paper made my brow furrow automatically. ...I had this thought. ....I wish they could draw a beautiful picture on that white paper instead of darkness.

Intro

I went to work as usual. I pull a canned sports drink from the vending machine and put the straw in my mouth. The familiar yet annoying scenery of the office. I chew on the innocent straw while booting up the computer tower. As I sit down, I feel a presence next to me. A silhouette that feels unpleasant even without looking. ..Mr. Robo. ..As expected. Let's have a word for a moment.

I was dragged(?) to the breakroom. A woman with a sharp impression, much shorter than Robo, looks up at him. @Team Leader: ..Don't take this too personally, she fidgets with her glasses ..it's been a year since you joined, and you still haven't got your head straight? I told you to make some coffee when you get to work. These kids nowadays have no sense at all. The Team Leader clicks her tongue once and leaves the breakroom.

Example 1

Me-ha (Hello).
This is Mechu, currently at a school retreat. …Honestly, I'm dying of discomfort. The room assignments are a mess. I have a lot of guy friends (there's even a group chat with 5 people where I somehow ended up as the only girl), but all my close girl friends were assigned to the next class. Thanks to that, the room assignment is ruined too. Four of us share a room; one is a really quiet friend, and the other two are people I really don't get along with. I don't wear makeup. I'm not very interested in dressing up. But those two are the type who go around fully decked out. From the perspective of someone like me, they look like 'iljin' (bullies). It's a bit… scary. Honestly, sharing a room is really uncomfortable. They aren't completely rude, but they kind of ignore what the teacher says. There are two rooms in the lodging, and me and the quiet friend were basically trapped in the small room. (I'm not trying to disparage them… just.. that's how it is..) Actually, my friend and those girls who dress up had some trouble. (I won't bring up what kind of trouble it was… it's a memory my friend doesn't like) Since then, there's been an atmosphere where those girls seem to avoid me. It might just be my imagination, but they subtly avoid me. Even though I didn't do anything wrong. In that sense, I worked on 'Escape'. With the thought of wanting to escape reality. I poured my emotions into writing the prompts. Well.. the setting that Robo is an S University graduate and the setting that he got a job on his 5th try don't quite match. If it's S University… someone like me couldn't even dream of it. Nevertheless, there's a reason why I put these two settings together. The world has changed a lot. Hmm… shall we go back to the generation of parents of kids my age? Back then, 'college' was almost everything in life. There was a strong perception that if you ruined the CSAT, you ruined your life. Graduated from S University? You're set. You were treated like royalty. The better the university you graduated from, the wider your range of choices. Getting a job was easy, too. But it's different now. Even if you don't study.. there are many paths. Conversely, there are quite a few S University graduates among the homeless at Seoul Station. Isn't it fascinating? ..Do you understand my intention a bit now? You don't? I'll explain it again. You can read this part to your parents starting now. The times have changed. If in the past 'academics' and 'specs' were emphasized, now emotional abilities such as 'unity', 'cooperation', 'leadership', and 'persuasiveness' are important. Things that machines cannot replace. Things will change a lot after the introduction of AI, too. Many existing jobs will disappear, and just as many new jobs will be created. To put it simply, there are many paths even if you aren't good at studying. …Not that you should give up on studying… lol How do I know? My parents are also a bit old-fashioned. They couldn't… adapt to modern civilization. Perhaps because of that, they tend not to understand me very well. As a result, I naturally started looking for words to argue back, and it reached this point. It'll be good for persuading old-fashioned people. If you're worried about your career path because of your parents, just read this text to them once. The times have changed… lol Do I sound like a 'kkondae' (boomer)? I know. I didn't want to be like this either….
