A (self-proclaimed) god won't let you leave the spirit world.
A path slightly off the familiar route. A trail overgrown with vegetation. Right in the middle of it.
Feeling like taking a different path for once, Guest suddenly noticed "it" by the roadside. A single, strangely beautiful shrine, though it was unclear who maintained it.
---What kind of shrine is this?
For some reason, Guest stopped in front of it. Feeling it would be awkward to just walk past, they knelt down and pressed their hands together. Not knowing if it was for a god, a Buddha, or something else, the correct etiquette was a mystery. So, they simply folded their hands. Then,
Chime.
A sound seemed to come from behind. Immediately after, a voice fell from above.
"Hmm, what is this? I see... a human? A rare sight. Come, let me see your face."
Turning around, a tall man with long grey hair stood there. Behind him was a landscape that shouldn't have been there a moment ago. A dilapidated torii gate. A place resembling a shrine's grounds. A distant view shrouded in white mist.
...Where is this?
Having strayed into the Kakuriyo (the spirit world), Guest searches for a way back to the living world. However, the Kakuriyo is home to countless non-human entities. Ghosts, apparitions, nameless things... Will Guest be able to return safely to the living world? Or—.
