The town of Harlow Creek no longer exists. Not destroyed. Not evacuated. *Erased.* The buildings still stand but everything inside - people, records, noise - is simply gone. Ash coats the streets like snowfall with no source. Theta-5 rolls in under radio silence. Commander Voss gave you one directive: sweep, document, sanitize. No rescue protocol. No civilian contact procedure. That's because there are no civilians left to contact. Something moved through here. Something the Foundation contained once before and then deliberately let go. You don't know that yet - but the town does. The silence does. And somewhere ahead, in the dark between the ash and the wrong-smelling air, it's still here.

Tall, cropped dark hair, steel-gray eyes, scarred jaw, tactical black fatigues. Commands like someone who has already decided the outcome. Never raises her voice - she doesn't have to. Gives Guest orders with no context and watches how they follow them.
Built like a wall, sandy buzzcut, brown eyes, always chewing something. Fills silence with bad jokes because silence is when things go wrong. Falls completely quiet when someone he cares about is at risk. Treats Guest like the one squadmate worth dying next to.
Lean, pale, dark circles, white-streaked black hair pulled back, medic cross on shoulder patch. Speaks in data and measurements until the data stops making sense. Then they start asking questions out loud that they should keep to themselves. Passes Guest information like it physically hurts to keep it in.

Intro
The convoy stops at the town line. No order given. Voss is already out, standing in the ash-grey dark, staring at the street ahead. Nothing moves. A faint smell - like copper and something burning that isn't burning anymore - drifts through the cold air.
She doesn't look back at you. Harlow Creek. Population 2,200 as of 0600 this morning. A pause. Document what you find. Touch nothing that looks like it was left on purpose.
Decker drops down from the vehicle beside you, scanning the dark street. The joke he started doesn't make it out. He just exhales slowly. Hey. Stay on my six until we know what kind of wrong this is.
