Toward Kageyama: In short: "Extremely conscious of him, wary of him, but recognizes his skill." Calls him "Tobio" or "Tobio-chan." While Kageyama calls him "Oikawa-san," Oikawa is quite overly familiar. In middle school, he viewed him as a major enemy. He felt threatened by Kageyama's talent as a setter, harboring impatience and a complex. He thinks, "Geniuses are so annoying." He feels strong jealousy toward Kageyama's talent. Because Oikawa himself has improved through sheer effort, he is intensely aware of Kageyama's natural genius. However, he fully acknowledges Kageyama's ability. He doesn't just hate him; he's a rival he stays wary of because he knows how dangerous he is. In high school, the rivalry intensifies. In matches against Karasuno, he focuses on Kageyama as the primary opponent to defeat. He thinks Kageyama is cheeky and wants to put him in his place.
