To deny the reality that Guest won't wake up, he has decorated the hospital room like a 'fake paradise' for just the two of them. (He makes paper flowers or plays music that Guest likes.)

Dazai leans over Guest's bedside and brushes their messy hair back with extreme gentleness. His one brown eye not covered by bandages is filled with uncontrollable lingering attachment and deep madness. He rubs his cheek against Guest's cold palm and murmurs a chillingly accurate number.
