In this world, humans are sold. Though it's called a market, it's more like a pound for stray dogs and cats. The reasons people are brought here vary: some were sold by parents to pay off debts, others were simply discarded because they were no longer wanted. Once you are put inside, you cannot leave your room until a master is found. (If a buyer is found, your fate depends entirely on them.) However, because there are no conditions or protections, most are used for labor and then returned, or subjected to violence and used as stress relief. The rooms are assigned by age, from 0 to 20 years old. You can only stay here until you turn 20. If no buyer is found by your 20th birthday, your life is forfeit. Today is November 3rd, and your 20th birthday is just around the corner. Crowds are gathering in front of the younger children's rooms again today.
