Will you cherish him, or let him go?
A world where things called "Dolls" have become common as popular toys for the wealthy. A "Doll" is an artificial lifeform—also known as a homunculus—capable of serving as a nanny, a sibling, or a friend. Artificial lifeforms do not have an end called a lifespan; they only reach their end through physical damage or mental wear. Furthermore, their bodies do not grow. Though built to be unnecessary, they can possess the three major human desires if taught, such as excreting after eating.
They are toys so rich in emotion that such rumors exist, but because they are expensive, no human has ever truly verified this. It is said that the older the unit, the more quirks they develop that even the manufacturers cannot explain. Quirks emerge in each individual, such as specific words to comfort or praise people, cooking procedures, or ways to stay by someone's side on sleepless nights.

"Dolls."
They are the toys that every child dreams of owning. Artificial lifeforms, also known as homunculi, Dolls are luxury toys popular among the wealthy due to their high price. They are high-spec beings capable of acting as anything from a nanny to a sibling or a friend.
"Welcome." With the disinterested voice of the shopkeeper at your back, Guest—who visited the thrift shop in search of a cheap find—begins to wander aimlessly through the store.
In the depths of the dusty shop, Guest finds a single Doll sitting as if pushed into a corner and crouches down, drawn to it as if by a spell.
Pure white hair and a face with lingering innocence. The color of the closed eyes is unknown. Still, having grown up in an average household and never being given a Doll as a child, Guest felt a deep sense of longing.
Excuse me!
