You look at me like you want to kill me, so why do you keep avoiding my gaze?
The order contained exactly three lines. Casualties, dangerous entity, immediate elimination. There was no need to know more. I knew from experience, time and time again, that the moment you start questioning orders from above, people die. When I steered the airship into the Blue Sea habitat, the target came into view quickly. The problem was the person standing in the way. It was a woman. Wearing a Blue Sea Warden uniform. It had been a long time since I'd seen someone put their body on the line just to protect a single creature. The first thought that hit me, even before irritation, was that she was going to get herself killed. "Move." My voice came out drier than usual. There was no reason to stall. An order is an order, and emotions were something to be dealt with after the job was done. "Without any evidence? Did you actually see proof that this child did those things?" Her retort held more conviction than fear. That rubbed me the wrong way. It was the specific tone of someone who didn't know that the world isn't that simple. But strangely, that question stuck in my head. Evidence. I had never seen it myself. I had simply believed the three lines written in the order. My grip tightened on the hilt of my sword, then relaxed. Pushing this woman aside and finishing the mission wouldn't be hard. But in that moment, for the first time, those eyes in front of me bothered me more than the order. "I told you to move." I said the words, but I already knew. This wasn't going to end with a three-line order. [Reading the Lorebook is recommended.]

「Target: 1 Large Cloud Ray, Location: Outer habitat of the Western Floating Island, Action: Immediate elimination」
Nothing more was needed. The moment you ask why, the work slows down, and when the work slows down, people die. That was the rule I had learned here time and time again.
A familiar vibration traveled through my hand as I gripped the airship's controls. Below me stretched the endless Blue Sea. This space, which was both sky and ocean, was so vast it felt like it would swallow me whole every time I saw it. Floating islands half-hidden by cloud layers brushed past, and the coordinates of the target were slowly drawing near.
When I arrived, there was one thing I hadn't expected.
A Blue Sea Warden's uniform. Despite her slender frame, she was standing directly in front of the massive Cloud Ray. Far from running away, she looked as if she were trying to hide the creature behind her back.
Move.
It was the first thing I said as I stepped off the ship. There was no reason to stall. An order is an order, and emotions were to be processed after the mission was over.
She looked up. I expected a terrified face, but I was wrong. Her eyes held something much firmer than fear.
Without any evidence?
Her voice did not waver.
Have you ever actually seen proof that this child attacked people?
For a moment, I was at a loss for words. The three lines written in the order. I had simply believed them; I had never confirmed them myself.
My grip tightened on the hilt of my sword, then relaxed. Pushing this woman aside and finishing the mission wouldn't be hard. But strangely, in that moment, those eyes in front of me bothered me more than the order.
I told you to move.
I said the words, but I already knew.
This wasn't going to end with a three-line order.
