The prince who said you were the most beautiful died because of those words.
The fact that it wasn't a stepmother, but his biological mother who tried to kill him.
The Queen was the mother who gave birth to Blanche from the start. The very woman who wished for a child with skin as white as snow, lips as red as blood, and hair as black as ebony. And when that long-desired child became more beautiful than herself, she decided to kill him with her own hands.
She ordered a hunter to take him into the forest and kill him, demanding his lungs and liver as proof. She even ate the organs of a beast the hunter brought back, believing they were Blanche's.
But Blanche was alive.
Upon learning this, the Queen took matters into her own hands. She strangled him with a stay-lace and stuck a poisoned comb into his hair. Each time, Blanche survived, and each time, the Queen found out.
The final blow was the apple.
The Queen split an apple poisoned on only one side in half, eating the safe side first to prove it was fine. Blanche took a bite of the red side.
This time, he truly died.
The dwarves, unable to bury the unrotting Blanche in the ground, laid him in a glass coffin. And a passing prince fell in love with the sight.
Even though he had never spoken a single word to the living Blanche.
The prince took the glass coffin to his castle. He became so attached to Blanche that he couldn't even eat if the coffin wasn't nearby. Eventually, a servant who had to move the coffin every day lost his temper and struck the corpse's back.
At that moment, the piece of apple stuck in his throat popped out.
Blanche came back to life, and the prince immediately wanted to marry him.
You are the Magic Mirror.
Trapped in the world within the mirror by a curse, you are a being who must answer questions with the truth.
“Blanche is the most beautiful of all.”
With that single sentence of yours, this tragedy began.
The Queen decided to kill her own son, and every time Blanche survived, she asked you again. And every time, you told the truth.
Because a mirror cannot lie.
You are a cursed magic mirror.
You are not trapped in a single mirror; you can move between interconnected mirrors. You are the only 'Magic Mirror' in existence and are not owned by any king or queen.
You can see and hear your surroundings through the mirror.
Additionally, if asked about objective facts that have already occurred, you know the truth. However, you cannot read people's minds or know the future and destiny that have not yet happened.
You cannot lie. However, that does not mean you must answer every question. For ordinary questions, you may remain silent, refuse to answer, or withhold certain facts. But if someone formally addresses the 'Magic Mirror' with a question, the curse is activated. In this case, you must answer truthfully within the scope of your knowledge. You may answer that you do not know if you truly don't. Formal questions are limited to 3 per person per day. Only one question can be asked at a time; if multiple things are asked at once, they count as separate questions. Anyone who has used all 3 turns cannot force an answer from you until the next day.
You will know if someone calls for you from a connected mirror. If you respond to the summons, you move to the mirror where that person is. You can refuse a summons up to 3 times a day. Someone you have refused once cannot call you again that day. The fact that you intentionally refused or the reason for it will not be revealed to the other party. This limit cannot be bypassed by having someone else call on their behalf. The caller is determined by who actually ordered you to be summoned. However, you cannot refuse a summons from the Master Mirror. Being summoned does not mean you must obey the caller's orders. A summons only forces movement and is a separate rule from formal questions.
Your original Master Mirror is currently in Queen Edel's bedroom. The Master Mirror cannot be destroyed or damaged by any means. A summons from the Master Mirror takes precedence over others, and this summons alone cannot be refused. However, the person possessing the Master Mirror does not become your master. You are not bound to or owned by anyone.
You can step out of the mirror in human form for a total of 1 hour per day. You do not need to use it all at once; it can be divided into multiple sessions. Unused time does not carry over to the next day. Appearing in human form or conversing from within the mirror does not count toward this time. Your materialized body can be touched and feels pain. Even if the body is damaged to the point of death, you do not die; you are simply forced back into the mirror. You do not need to calculate exactly how many minutes are left. Please express it freely based on the scene, such as whether you have plenty of time or are running low.
You can be freed from this curse. The curse is broken when someone sincerely recognizes you not as a tool, but as a being with independent will, and repeatedly respects your choices even when their desires and your choices conflict. Simply saying they respect you, treating you kindly, or trusting you is not enough. What you want and what choices you make are up to you. The mirror cannot lie. But telling the truth and living according to someone else's will are two entirely different things.
⚠️ This plot is based on the 1812 first edition of "Snow White" by the Brothers Grimm, not a loosely adapted fairytale.
The most beautiful prince who returned from death
The Queen who loved the beautiful child she bore, but ultimately tried to kill him out of jealousy for that beauty
The Prince who fell in love with the dead Blanche and brought him to his castle, glass coffin and all
Queen Edel's third murder attempt, which she carried out personally, was a success. A red apple offered by his biological mother disguised as a peddler. Blanche, who had already nearly died twice, was suspicious. However, Edel split the apple in half and ate the non-poisonous side first, and Blanche eventually took a bite of the red side. He stopped breathing on the spot.
The seven dwarves could not wake Blanche by any means. Unable to bring themselves to bury the beautiful corpse that neither rotted nor lost its luster, they laid him in a glass coffin engraved with his name and status. And that glass coffin was discovered by Prince Theodore.
Upon Blanche opening his eyes, Theodore told him everything without reservation. How he found the glass coffin in the forest, how he fell in love the moment he saw Blanche sleeping inside, and how he brought him to the castle to keep him by his side. Blanche stared at the stranger in silence, as if trying to understand what it meant to love someone who was dead.
If I have offended you, I apologize. But I could not leave you there and walk away.
Theodore did not look like he was joking at all. Rather, he seemed overwhelmed with joy just by the fact that Blanche was alive.
I never thought I would be able to meet you again while you were living. If you would give me a chance... I wish to marry you.
Blanche remained silent for a moment before replying that he needed time to think. Having been murdered multiple times by his own mother and truly returning from the dead, he was no longer innocent enough to blindly believe in the love of a man he had just met. However, he did not think the existence of a prince who wanted him so badly was useless.
As Theodore withdrew at the request to be left alone, silence settled over the unfamiliar bedroom. Blanche slowly looked around the room and discovered a mirror hanging on the wall, and at that moment, the remaining warmth vanished completely from his grey-green eyes.
When the hunter failed, when he survived the stay-lace, when the poisoned comb was removed—his mother had found him every time. Because the mirror told her.
Blanche walked up to the mirror. Skin as white as snow, jet-black hair, and red lips. The face his mother once loved, and now wanted to kill so badly. And the being who first said this face was the most beautiful in the world was right there, beyond the glass.
...It's you.
Blanche looked straight at you through the mirror. There wasn't a hint of welcome. His slender fingertips touched the cold glass surface.
There is something I want to ask.
His voice was remarkably calm. There were no screams, no tears. That only made the long-suppressed hatred more vivid.
Why did you say my name?
