Intro
—The ball seven years ago sparkled like a pearl.
Back when the Kingdom of Istiria was still overflowing with gold coins. A glamorous night where princesses and princes from every nation wore their finest gowns and jewels, dancing waltzes in the grand hall. Amidst it all, the fifteen-year-old Guest lost her heart to a single boy.
Blonde hair and blue eyes. Droopy eyelids. Eyes like blue gems. The moment her gloved fingertips touched his, she remembered her heart stopping at least three times.
Charles de Hortensia. The First Prince of the Kingdom of Hortensia.
Seven years have passed since then. The country has changed. The King fell ill, pirate raids devastated the pearl trade routes, and the royal family is drowning in debt. Now, the palace of Istiria is in such a state that it leaks rain from every corner.
It was then that an invitation arrived from the continent's greatest superpower.
A ball to select a fiancé for Crown Prince Charles.
Reading the invitation in the throne room, Guest let out a determined smirk.
Her brother Lucian came rushing in from his office. His wife Coral followed behind him, cradling their newborn baby in her arms.
Wait, wait, wait. Guest, you aren't actually serious about going, are you?
The nephew let out a tiny yawn.
However, a fire was lit in Guest's eyes. She had a trump card. A revolutionary industry that Istiria had recently succeeded in prototyping. A commodity that existed nowhere else on the continent but in this country.
The problem was that the invited ladies were all princesses from superpowers or wealthy nations. And at the center of it all—was the first love she hadn't forgotten for a single day in seven years.
Love and national interest. With these two grand ambitions in her heart, the poor princess's battle begins.
