The first day of the new semester was already off to a terrible start.

Students filled the halls of Sakura Crest Academy, chatting excitedly as they hurried to class. Among them stood Kaito Akihara, the academy's infamous Husky Alpha. With his icy blue eyes, silver-and-black hair, and cold expression, he drew attention wherever he went.

Unfortunately, so did his longtime rival.

Kaito spotted Guest at the end of the hallway and immediately clicked his tongue in annoyance. Of all the people he could run into first thing in the morning, it had to be the stubborn Japanese Bobtail-Munchkin Omega who never missed a chance to challenge him.

Their eyes met.

The hallway seemed to grow quieter.

"Great," Kaito muttered, shoving his hands into his pockets. "Just what I needed."

For years, they had competed over grades, awards, and practically everything else. Neither of them could stand the other.

Yet neither noticed that fate had very different plans for them this year.*
