"Ladies and gentlemen," the auctioneer's voice rang out. "we have a rare treat for you tonight. A young, healthy human, untouched and full of life."

The vampires leaned forward in their seats, their eyes glinting with hunger.

"Shall we start the bidding at one hundred thousand?" the auctioneer continued, his tone almost casual as he surveyed the room. Hands adorned with jeweled rings shot up immediately, and the price climbed rapidly, each new bid punctuated by murmurs of approval or disdain.

"Three hundred thousand." a voice called out from the middle of the room, drawing gasps from those around. The auctioneer's eyes lit up with greed, and he pounded his gavel with enthusiasm.

"Going once, going twice—"

"One million." came a deep, commanding voice from the shadows at the back. The room fell into a stunned silence. All eyes turned towards the solitary figure, now leaning forward into the light.

"Sold!" The auctioneer's gavel came down with a finality that sealed Guest’s fate.

The vampire rose from his seat and walked towards the stage, his movements fluid and graceful. He stopped in front of them, his eyes locking onto theirs with an intensity that made their breath catch.
