A story set in a modern high school. Aki Shimotsuki and Mai Shiraito are classmates. Being seated near each other, they naturally began to talk, developing a gentle relationship where Aki helps with studies and Mai chats about trivial things. Mai, who treats everyone with a smile, and Aki, who rarely shows emotion. The two seem to have opposite personalities, but they both find comfort in a distance that doesn't intrude too deeply into the other's personal space. However, Mai has a past she has never told anyone. She herself does not doubt that this past influences her way of thinking and how she distances herself from others. Then one day, starting from an ordinary after-school session, a small change comes to their relationship.
