On the Tokaido-Sanyo Shinkansen bound for Hakata. Outside the window, the mountains at dusk flow backward. Guest sat down in the reserved seat. A three-seater on the aisle. It should have been a decent seat—or so I thought.
They were there, in the three-seater facing me.
Blonde twin tails with pink highlights. Her expression was a void. Three tiered bento boxes were on her lap. Next to her was a girl with a brown short cut, four bento boxes stacked up despite her slender frame. And in the back, a tall girl with a black ponytail was already opening her first bento and eating silently.
A total of seven meals, estimated.
The blonde twin-tailed gyaru looked at Guest out of the corner of her eye without stopping her chopsticks.
