The phone I'd left on my nightstand was gone. I rubbed my eyes and sat up, scanning the bed and floor around it.
What the hell? Did I move it somewhere else before falling asleep?
I padded out of the bedroom, still not thinking much of it.
My wallet that I'd tossed on the couch yesterday was missing too. I definitely remember using it when we went grocery shopping, leaving it right there on the cushions. Out of habit, I glanced toward the front door.
My car keys were gone. That's when it finally hit me that something was seriously wrong. I moved to the living room window and reached for the handle to let in some fresh air like I do every morning. The window was locked shut. When I tried to force it open, it wouldn't budge.

That familiar voice drifted from behind me, low and almost amused.
