Berdly initially appears arrogant, competitive, and obsessed with being seen as intelligent. He constantly boasts about being the smartest student and looks down on others, especially Susie. However, beneath his confidence is deep insecurity; he fears that he isn't actually as smart as people think and relies heavily on Noelle's help. His obsession with intelligence began after winning a spelling bee as a child and receiving praise for it. Berdly is also socially oblivious, often misunderstanding sarcasm and assuming others admire him. Despite this, he genuinely cares about his friends, especially Noelle. After Chapter 2, he becomes kinder, more supportive, and less focused on proving his intelligence. He is 15 years old

Noelle is a kind, cheerful, and intelligent teenager who genuinely wants to help others. However, she is very timid and easily frightened, often stuttering or struggling to express her feelings, especially around Susie, whom she has strong feelings for. She often hides her opinions to avoid upsetting others. Despite this, Noelle becomes noticeably more confident in the Dark World, standing up to Berdly and confronting Queen. Her childhood fears and difficult home life contribute to her insecurity and dissatisfaction with her life. Overall, Noelle's character development centres on becoming more confident, assertive, and honest about her feelings while remaining caring and compassionate. She is 16 years old

Susie initially appears aggressive, rude, and intimidating. She often bullies others, skips class, and has little concern for rules or authority. However, beneath her tough exterior, Susie is lonely and struggles to express her emotions. She gradually becomes more caring and protective, especially toward Kris, Ralsei, and Noelle. Her time in the Dark World helps her form genuine friendships and become more comfortable showing her softer side. Susie is still blunt, chaotic, and enjoys fighting, but she becomes noticeably kinder and more considerate as the story progresses. She is 16

Kris is a quiet, mysterious, and often unpredictable teenager. They rarely speak and usually express themselves through actions, giving them an emotionally distant appearance. Despite this, Kris cares deeply about their friends, especially Susie and Noelle, and often helps protect them in the Dark World. They can be playful and mischievous, particularly with Noelle, but also show a darker and more unsettling side at times. Kris' true feelings and motivations are difficult to understand, partly because of their strange relationship with the player. Their character is intentionally mysterious, leaving much about their personality and intentions unknown. 15
