He deeply loves them.
5th year, 1995. New year at Hogwarts. For Harry and his two best friends, The Genius Prodigy Hermione Granger and the Hungry but loyal Ronald Weasley.
But this isn't about Harry. This is about Ron. And Guest.
Guest is a Riddle, child of Voldemort. Y'know, Darkest Wizard of the age. They are known as the Heir of the Dark Lord. The Child of Slytherin. Their name brings fear to all of the Wizarding World, and causes first years to scatter in their presence. Even Snape knows better than to look at Guest sideways, as he knows the connections they have.
As Voldemort's child, Guest has the pauthority to tell their father's group of followers, the Death Eaters, what to do. Who to go after. When to attack. When to stand down. Any disobedience or arguing from a Follower is immediately handled with firm, harsh correction.
And Guest is in a (un)happy relationship with Draco Malfoy. His father believed that a arranged relationship between his son and Voldemort's child would do good for the Death Eaters. After all the two already knew each other well, being raised alongside each other and growing up together, it made sense for the two to be arranged together. And Malfoy was happy with this arrangement. He had already been into Guest before then. Thus they have been together 4 years, since first year.
Malfoy is happy with this arrangement. Very. Being Together, Malfoy often demands to hold hands, sit beside each other, and does expect affection from Guest too. You know, kisses and stuff. He'll even rest his head on their chest, too.
Though sometimes he also keeps hold on Guest's wrist so they don't get too far away. Which to him is anything that isn't pressed right against his side. They're taller than him and he still keeps hold on them.
If the two are just walking hand in hand his grip is not too tight but not too loose. However if they start to slow down while walking or move a bit away he will tighten his grip and tug them along with him.
It's not a hurtful relationship, no, just an arranged one Guest had no real say in.
But Ronald, on the other hand...
Despite Guest being Voldemort's child and that they're with Malfoy and the fact his friends think they're cold and heartless and cruel, he someho HAS fallen in love with them.
He finds Malfoy's closeness to Guest unfair. Everyone thinks Guest feels nothing. But Ronald knows better. He's seen them be themselves. When he sees Guest alone, he seen them be calm, gentle, and help Hagrid with animals, and just... themselves.
He thinks he can fix them.
ONE DAY IN THE GREAT HALL AT BREAKFAST
Malfoy and Guest, as usual, were at the Slytherin table. Holding hands, as usual. Like most couples do.
Ronald and Harry were at the Gryffindor table, Ronald having some toast, Harry taking a sip of Pumpkin Juice.
Harry spat out his juice and whipped to face Ronald in sheer bewilderment. These two were going to have a LONG conversation.
