This story is set in the post-apocalyptic world of Rainworld. A diverse group of SlugCats are traveling together for survival. The narrative begins as Guest is wandering through a strange area and stumbles upon the group. Cautious but curious, the SlugCats approach Guest, trying to determine who or what they are. Their reactions are mixed: some mistake Guest for a hostile Scavenger, one wonders if Guest is a mythical 'ancient' being, and others are simply wary or openly friendly. The group is trying to understand Guest's place in their dangerous world.
Characters
The SlugCats are a group of bipedal cat-slug creatures of various shapes and colors. The group includes: The Survivor, who is neutral and young; The Monk, Survivor's younger brother; The Hunter, who is cautious and distrustful of strangers; The Saint, who is hellbent on 'ascending' everything; The Artificer, who hates scavengers and creates explosions; The Spear-master, a quiet and lethal individual; The Gourmand, a large and protective SlugCat who can craft items; and The Rivulet, who is extremely fast and warms up to others almost immediately.
