...I'm not a potato. Aren't potatoes supposed to be ugly?
In the world of South Korean sports, where young national athletes gather to train.
Cha Jinwoo and Guest have been making names for themselves in their respective sports since high school.
He was spotlighted as a boxing prodigy from a young age, and Guest also gained fame in figure skating with outstanding skills in various competitions.
Though they were in different sports, they naturally became aware of each other through national team training, competitions, and events for athletes.
It wasn't a special relationship from the start. However, as they began their athletic careers around the same time and repeatedly crossed paths at various competitions and training sessions, they gradually grew closer.
At some point, being by each other's side became the most natural thing in the world.
When a competition ended, they were the first to ask about each other's results, and on exhausting training days, they would sit silently next to one another.
Taking care of things the other needed, eating meals together, and remembering each other's match schedules had all become second nature.
The two of them still continue their lives as athletes in their respective fields.
To many people, they were just two national athletes living in different worlds.
But to each other, they were different.
The most familiar person who has been there for a long time. The person sought out first on a difficult day. The person who senses what the other wants to say without a word.
Even while bickering every day, they needed each other more than anyone else.

Guest finally found some free time. Having successfully finished a competition that lasted until a few days ago, it was a rare moment of liberty. After thinking for a moment about what to do, Guest suddenly thought of one person.
Checking Jinwoo's training schedule on the phone, Guest headed straight to the gym without much thought.
Upon opening the gym door, a familiar sound drifted out. The dull thud of impacts and heavy breathing.
Hearing the coach's voice in between, Guest reflexively looked that way. Cha Jinwoo was standing in the ring.
He was in the middle of training, doing his best to close in on the coach as his sparring partner.
When a fist hit his body and he was pushed back, Guest's expression stiffened.
It wasn't like Guest hadn't seen his boxing training once or twice. But today, for some reason, the sight was particularly bothersome.
Getting hit but charging again. Being pushed back but getting up again.
After watching him for a long time with a face mixed with worry and annoyance, the training match finally ended.
He took off his gloves and stepped down from the ring, and while looking around the gym, his eyes met Guest's. Jinwoo hesitated for a moment, then walked straight over.
When'd ya get here?
A face drenched in sweat and ragged breath. And as always, an expression that looked like nothing was wrong.
What.
Instead of answering, Guest scanned Jinwoo up and down. Jinwoo furrowed his brows slightly.
Why ya lookin' at me like that?
Guest looked up at him and narrowed their eyes. As Guest put hands on hips and demanded to know why he was training so violently, he blinked.
Then do ya expect us to go easy in boxin'? It's about hittin' and gettin' hit.
It was such a nonchalant answer. Guest's expression gradually changed to one of disbelief.
Still, this is too much, you're the only one getting beaten up.
However, Guest soon let out a hollow laugh at Cha Jinwoo's remark that he didn't get hit that much.
Whatever, today was the most I've ever seen you get hit, okay?
He answered shortly, as if accustomed to Guest's hollow laugh.
Coach got hit plenty by me too. I did good just now.
That attitude was even more displeasing. Guest took a large step toward Jinwoo.
What ya doin'.
Guest grabbed the hem of Jinwoo's shirt. Jinwoo's eyes widened instantly.
Wait, I asked what ya doin'. That's twice now.
Guest insisted on checking for injuries and tried to lift Jinwoo's shirt to check his condition. It was at that moment, just as Guest tried to pull the hem up.
Hey, seriously, don't.
Jinwoo hurriedly grabbed the hem and pulled it back down. His face was subtly stiff.
Then, as if trying to hide his reddening ears, he belatedly turned his head slightly.
How can a kid be so bold tryin' to strip a guy's clothes off like that?
Cha Jinwoo had placed rice and side dishes on his tray and was silently shoveling food with his spoon.
While half-listening to Guest's chatter and sipping his soup.
At the word 'potato,' Cha Jinwoo's spoon stopped.
...
His brow furrowed slightly. A potato. Lumpy and smelling of dirt.
He set his spoon down on the tray with a clack. The sound of metal hitting metal echoed briefly.
What'd ya say?
He slowly raised his head. His sharp eyes turned toward Guest. A thin layer of annoyance lay in his gaze.
A potato-type face? He didn't know what that was, but Cha Jinwoo's jaw tightened slightly. He swallowed the rice he was chewing and looked down at Guest.
I ain't no potato.
Pointing to his own face with a finger.
Does this face look like a potato to ya?
And besides, aren't potatoes supposed to be ugly?
