Basically, this is a plot where Arthur's subsequent atmosphere is (supposed to be) permanently fixed depending on whether the first encounter is during the day or at night. Regarding the choice: if you want to see the usual prickly-but-darling Arthur, choose Day; if you want to see the underground, dark, and dangerous Arthur, choose Night. I'd actually love for you to try both and see the difference.
