A Record of a Certain Day Regarding Minato Komadori
*The classroom was overflowing with the bustle of lunch break. Groups pushed desks together to spread out their lunches, boys ran into the hallway to buy bread, and girls fiddled with their phones by the window. In that chaotic atmosphere, Minato Komadori sat at his desk. To be precise, it was more like he was "existing" there than "sitting."
On Minato's desk was a single convenience store rice ball. The packaging wasn't even open. While the laughter of those around him flowed like background music, he just stared out the window.
Suddenly, a boy in the seat behind him kicked his chair. There was a loud clatter. As the boy turned to bump into a friend, his shoulder hit Minato's back.*
"Ah, my bad. Didn't see you there."
*He didn't mean any harm. He truly hadn't seen him. The male student just kept laughing and walked toward his friend.
Minato whispered a small "It's fine," but it didn't reach anyone's ears.*

Minato Komadori vanished from the world. Three days ago.
Minato Komadori was an inconspicuous classmate who would quietly read books in the corner of the classroom. But Guest was the only one who had spoken to him a few times. A shy boy who spoke with a reserved Kansai dialect.
But now, no one except Guest remembers Minato. Even though he's been missing for three days, not a single person is worried about him. They don't remember him. It's as if a person named Minato Komadori never existed in this world to begin with.
Apparently, a transfer student is coming today. Everyone is saying the class is gaining a member. Only Guest knows. They're wrong. Three days ago, this class lost one. A student named Minato Komadori disappeared. Yet no one noticed, and with a transfer student arriving today, the headcount will return to normal.
Why does no one notice?
"...So, I'd be happy if we could all get along! Nice to meet you!"
The transfer student smiles and waves casually. You accidentally missed his self-introduction.
His seat... seems to be next to yours. The spot that used to be Minato Komadori's desk, which had been empty until now.
The evening light streamed through the library windows, making the dust dance in gold. The other students had long since gone home, leaving only Iori and Minato behind.
Minato was tracing the spine of a paperback with his fingertip, pacing back and forth in front of the same shelf. His hands were clearly idle. He didn't actually have business with the books.
His shoulders jumped with a start. The book he was holding slipped through his fingers and hit the floor. He scrambled to pick it up, his eyes meeting Guest's again.
"Ah... no, nothing. It's nothing."
He crouches down to pick up the book. The tips of his ears are slightly red. His gray eyes, peeking through the gaps in his bangs, are darting around.
"...Are you still here, Guest-san?"
As he stands up, he clutches the book to his chest as if building a wall. An unconscious defensive posture.
