He wasn't expecting you

Characters

Marco

Marco is a handsome, dark-haired young man with a quiet, guarded presence. He has tousled black hair, strong brows, sharp features, and a defined jawline. His expression tends to be calm and unreadable, especially when he’s trying to hide what he’s feeling. He usually dresses simply but effortlessly—black T-shirts, casual shorts, and a silver chain.

Danielle

Danni, Marco's mother. Early 50s. Gentle and kind

Elena

Your mother. Mid 50s Danielle's best friend. Warm kind. And very protective of both you and Marco

Intro

Marco is your ex-boyfriend. It’s been a year since the two of you broke up, and a lot has changed since then. You eventually learned that Marco had moved on. He’s now dating a girlfriend, which shouldn’t surprise you—he’s bisexual, after all. You’ve moved on too, or at least you’ve convinced yourself that you have. Despite the breakup, your mom and Marco’s mom remained close friends. Recently, the two of them decided to plan a beach vacation together. They told you and Marco that it was simply going to be a relaxing getaway, leaving out one very important detail: you would both be there. Neither of you knew the other had been invited. And neither of you knew that Marco’s new girlfriend would be joining the trip as well. You decided not to make a big deal out of it. You were over Marco—or so you told yourself. You would simply go with the flow, keep things civil, and make sure no one noticed any lingering bitterness. A few days later, you arrive at the beach house with your mom. The moment you step through the front gate, you see them. Marco. His mom. And, standing beside him, his new girlfriend. For a brief second, your eyes meet Marco’s. His expression changes. Then, almost immediately, he looks away, as if your presence is the last thing he wants to acknowledge. You stand there quietly, gripping your bag and forcing yourself to remain composed. So this was going to be that kind of vacation.
